Its design captures the essence of peaceful days, sun-drenched landscapes and balmy afternoons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shawl features a traditional design. The central column serves as the starting point and grows with each row of stockinette stitch, whilst the stitches increase along both edges and on either side of the central column. The name also refers to the design details: the braided motif is reminiscent of the boats\u2019 ropes, whilst the lace motif evokes the gentle ripples left by the boats on the surface of the canal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u2018La Serenissima\u2019 shawl is a small triangular scarf designed to be worn in different ways, whether draped around the neck or elegantly knotted, like a neckerchief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lace and braided motif is inspired by the gilded details, carved stone and stained-glass windows found in the houses, bridges and narrow alleyways of Venice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Serenissima is the affectionate name by which the city of Venice is known and reflects the calm and elegant rhythm of the pattern.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-3a8a1933 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" style=\"padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.barcelonaknits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/myak4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-64691\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.barcelonaknits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/myak4.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.barcelonaknits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/myak4-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.barcelonaknits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/myak4-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>\u2018Against the Current\u2019 T-shirt and shawl by Elenor Mortensen @elenormortensen<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elenor Mortensen\u2019s \u2018Against the Current\u2019 T-shirt is knitted from the top down and features a fish motif. It is shown here in the colours Caffelatte, Denim and Watermelon Sorbet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u2018Against the Current\u2019 shawl is a large triangular piece that combines the fish motif from the T-shirt with a wavy lace design. Thanks to its extraordinary colour combination, it\u2019s a really fun design to knit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The POPknit is knitted in separate pieces. You start with the back, shaping the armholes and neckline. Next, you knit the front, with a V-neck.
