In this workshop, Filipa will teach you how to knit a sleeve from the top down, without seams, and how to shape it with short loops. In a simple way and without a lot of mathematics, you will learn to master the proportions. Filipa will share with you her favorite tricks to achieve perfect finishes. You will be able to make your own sleeve or adapt the pattern instructions to achieve a perfect finish and fit.
As usual in Filipa’s workshops, she will show you how to work this technique in continental, Portuguese and English style.
Workshop contents:
- Understand the proportions of the sleeve head.
- Pick up stitches around the armhole
- Shaping the sleeve head with short rows
- Sleeve decreases
Required material;
wool and needles suitable for the wool used. Especially recommended DK or Worsted wool.
Required techniques:
Assembling stitches, knowing how to knit and purl, decreases, closing stitches, circular knitting small diameters (sleeves) and short rounds.
Homework:
Each participant should bring a sample of a knitted armhole for the class according to Filipa’s previous instructions.
