Basics of knitted design ( knitting and crochet)
In this workshop you will learn the basics needed to design your knitted garments step by step: from finding the correct measurements and how to use them, measuring the swatch and using it to find the stitch count and yarn count to adapting the design to fit different sizes.
Sandra will also explain the advantages and disadvantages of different garment constructions and how to use Excel or Google Sheets during the design process to calculate the amount of wool needed for different sizes.
During the class, you will be able to work from a sample that you must knit beforehand.
Calculator, ruler, notebook and pencil, access to Excel or similar software.
No previous knowledge of design is required. But it is recommended to have made at least one garment before attending this workshop.
- Make a sample in the chosen stitch of at least 15 x 15 cm.
- Have thought about the type of garment you want to design.
