Necklines can completely transform a sweater: its style, its fit and how it feels to wear. In this workshop, we’ll explore in depth how to alter necklines with confidence so that they reflect your style and work perfectly within different garment constructions.
Through clear explanations and practical examples, you will learn to:
- Alter a classic round neck on a raglan to create a flattering V-neck.
- Raise or lower a round neckline on a set-sleeve sweater with shoulder seams.
- Adjust a V-neck (making it wider, narrower, higher or deeper) on a sweater with shoulder seams.
- Design and shape a boat neck on both set-in sleeve and raglan constructions.
- Use short rows on circular yoke sweaters to lower the front neckline, including understanding their structural limitations.
- Use short rows in raglan sweaters to lower the front neckline and understand when this approach works best.
- Reduce, widen, raise or lower necklines in circular yoke and raglan sweaters.
By the end of the workshop, you will not only know how to alter necklines, but also why certain techniques work best in specific constructions, giving you the tools to tackle your future sweater projects with clarity and confidence.
